A normal liver is soft and smooth in appearance. Anyone who has cooked liver
for supper, knows this.
IT would depend alot on what the cause of
the fatty liver is and whether it has turned
into NASH or alcoholic fatty liver disease.
NASH means non- alcoholic steatohepatitis.
Steato means fat and hepatitis means
inflammation.
If you want to learn more about NASH, here

Inflammation of the liver cells can cause
the liver to increase in size and feel spongy.
Someone who has this inflammation caused
because of weight gain, by losing weight...
and taking medications, the inflammation can go away. This is also true if an
alcholic stops drinking. However, if the
inflammation is not treated and the cause
of the inflammation removed...it can
progress to fibrosis inside the liver leading
to scarring inside the liver and cause the
liver cells to die. When this happens,
the enlarged liver will shrink in size
(smaller than what a normal liver is) and
become hard and have nodules appear on
it surface.
With fatty liver, the fat may be on the
surface of the liver and cause no problems
at all...however, if the fat is in the cells...
it can damage the cells and cause inflammation because it blocks blood flow and nourishment and it places pressure
on the cells.
I hope this is of some help.
You may want to go to your search engine
and click up above where it says ';images';..
which is usually right above where you
type your item you search for...another
screen will come up just for images and
then you can type ';ultrasound of the liver';
';Inflammation ultrasound of the liver';
';fatty liver ultrasound of the liver';
';cirrhosis of the liver'; and it
will show you pictures.
You could also type that in your regular
web search and it will give you more information on it.
