You would get better answers if you went into the IMVU forums and posted this question in an appropriate forum. You would be assured of getting an answer, then.

Re-doing bathroom by painting. Texture question?

I'm re-doing my bathroom. I took all of the wallpaper off, and want to paint it. my question is, my whole house is textured, pretty heavily, and was wondering if I should also texture my bathroom to match the rest of the house, or can I do it without heavy texturing. Maybe just a smooth texture. I want everything to flow smoothly into each room, and thought that smooth texture in the bathroom wouldnt look right.Re-doing bathroom by painting. Texture question?
You are so right. If you want the flow of texture then do a lightly textured wall for your bathroom. Yes, it can be done.Re-doing bathroom by painting. Texture question?
You live there so it's your choice. Bathroom walls should be easy to wipe down and keep clean so I wouldn't be too concerned about texturing the walls. Besides, you're only in one room at a time and, relatively speaking, you don't spend much time there.

  • Help for non permanent textured walls?

We live in a not so great apartment with very ugly off white walls. And not only an ugly color, in the past tenants were ALLOWED to paint so its built up many layers and looks like garbage. I would like to add some texture to the small bathroom where it is the worst.. I cannot use regular paint because it is a lease violation now. Border is allowed, however it NEEDS more than that. The bathroom is a half bath and very tiny.

Are there any non permanent paints that would do the trick? I need something that won't smudge off super easy, yet will come off if I scrub at it a couple years from now if we move. I need to be able to show them it will come off when I have an inspection. I have to pay to have it painted upon leaving anyway, but they are fussy during the bi yearly inspections. If they see permanent paint they will fine me and come cover it up. Which would really tick me off after hard work.Help for non permanent textured walls?
Instead of paint, why not try applying fabric to the walls with liquid starch? It doesn't damage the walls at all, and it peels off easily when you are ready for a change. All it takes is some 100% cotton fabric and liquid starch that you can buy in the detergent aisle at the grocery store. If it's a small bathroom, it won't take much fabric. It holds up very well!! The directions are easy to find online, just put ';wallpapering with fabric'; in the search.

Where can I get textures to use for my digital pictures, and how to apply them nicely?

I have an older version of Photoshop Elements, I also have Microsoft Digital Imaging Suite. I want to know where I can get textures and how to apply them to my pictures like I'm always seeing on Deviantart.com. Also is there anything else I can do to spice up my photos? I've only ever done mostly basic stuff to my photos, and I want to know what more I can do to enhance them. Where can I get textures to use for my digital pictures, and how to apply them nicely?
I don麓t have elements right now, but in Photoshop you can easily do it as I explain and probably also in Elements, so give it a try:

You can right click the layer you want textured and select expressions from the list, or select it and click on the button named fx on the bottom left of the panel.

Then you can select lots of things, like textures, shadows, bevel and lots of other edge effects, so as to answer the second part of your question.

You can also try a very nice plugin, the Akvis Frame suite, which can add lots of professional textures and also frames to your images.

Another way to do it is to photograph the texture you like, say a blank canvas and then create a layer of it over your image, reduce its opacity and try the blending modes, screen would be a good start. Try adjusting the opacity and blending mode until it looks realistic.Where can I get textures to use for my digital pictures, and how to apply them nicely?
Here are some free textures. Download them and when you use them, place them on a new layer with select all, copy and paste. Change the opacity of that layer til it looks good. You might also try the overlay or multiply layer. Use a sponge type eraser with the opacity set to a low number to selectively erase areas in your main subject.

Check out sites like psdtuts.com, and the skout.co.za 'textures' section. Hope this helps!
